Finns like to conceive ideas while in a sauna. That’s where the story of this all-rye distil-lery began in 2012. One of the fellows on that fateful sauna session had an idea where to build the distillery. The most famous cheese factory in Finland had been closed for the past five years and was ready for a gentle takeover. After enduring two years of building and bureaucracy, the fearless Kyrö distillers finally fired up the stills in 2014. Now the Kyrö Distillery family has grown to fourteen people and you can taste our spirits
in the best global bars as far as Tokyo, Berlin and London.
In rye we trust — we do everything the hard way: rye is the hardest grain to distill. We are the world’s northernmost gin and whisky distillery, using wild botanicals foraged from the old Napue battleground. We believe that good things come to honest enthusiasts. We are bold people who enjoy things we like the way we like. Coming from the arctic we know that having good company is not only nice; it’s a necessity.
