The Lakes Gin
189.00zł
The Lakes Gin is the only gin to be distilled in the Lake District, and using local botanicals it is truly a product of the Lakes. As the base of the gin they use grain spirit made from 100% English wheat, and this is put into a unique copper pot still along with water from the river Derwent and mix of botanicals. The impact of the copper and the unique shape of the still give a greater character to the spirit. A unique mix of botanicals added to the still along with the grain spirit and water, and left to steep overnight for 12 hours before distilling. The distilling process then takes a further 6 hours before The Lakes Gin is produced.

The mix includes 14 botanicals, 6 of which are local to the Lakes. Most importantly they use Cumbrian Juniper, this being the main area in the UK where juniper grows. Distillary works closely with the Cumbria Wildlife Trust, who run a programme to preserve and replant juniper in the region. The Lakes use also meadowsweet, which is foraged from Silver Meadows (1 mile from the distillery), bilberry, heather, hawthorn and mint. The other 8 botanicals are more traditional ones from the tropics, including cassia bark and coriander. The botanical mix is unique, giving The Lakes Gin a unique character.
The quality of the gin is such that it is best enjoyed neat, either poured after being in the freezer for an hour, or with ice. If tonic is to be added, we recommend a 1:1 ratio, so the gin can still be tasted. It is also ideal in cocktails, particularly those where the gin should be predominant in the overall taste.
Sharing similar contemporary packaging to our other brands, and with its exceptional quality, The Lakes Gin has been very positively received since launch. It has already won silver medals at the Asian IWSC awards and at the International Spirits Challenge.
